UFMA (Ultimate Freestyle Martial Arts) is a leading martial arts organization in West Sussex, offering a unique freestyle discipline that blends diverse martial arts styles and techniques. Our approach provides students with a comprehensive and adaptable training experience, empowering them with practical skills for all situations.
We run two distinct clubs to match different age groups:
- Adults (13+ years): Whether you’re new to martial arts or highly experienced, this club is for you! Our focus is on boosting your fitness and flexibility, teaching a wide range of techniques, and mastering practical street self-defense and sparring. Please be aware that this is a contact club, we tailor the intensity (from light to full contact) to each student’s age, grade, and ability. We always uphold the highest standards of safety and responsible training.
- Juniors Warriors (5-13 years): Our Juniors club is designed for younger students (5-13) to build foundational martial arts skills in a structured, fun, and engaging environment. Beyond techniques, children develop vital life skills like discipline, focus, respect, and confidence. Classes are dynamic and age-appropriate, using drills and games to boost coordination, balance, and fitness in a safe space. It’s about nurturing a love for martial arts while instilling valuable habits.
Thinking about joining ?
At UFMA new students are entitled to attend a free taster session at the club. All you need to do is simply click here and fill out the enquiry form stating that you would like to come along for a taster session. Students only need jogging bottoms and a t-shirt to join in, there will be regular water breaks throughout the session therefore a water bottle will also be needed. Students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their legal guardian for the first session.
A brief induction will be done at the beginning of your free taster session where DoJo etiquette and the session’s format will be explained. The induction will normally be taken by either the instructor or nominated senior grade.

Our new UFMA T-shirts are now available. All UFMA members qualify for one free T-shirt, any additional T-shirts cost £15 each. Please speak to your club instructor for more details.
UFMA Shop
Our UFMA Shop is available for students to purchase their training uniform and
necessary protection equipment. The shop also sells a range of Martial Arts products and all UFMA members are entitled to a 6% discount. To obtain this discount please click here.
UFMA Gradings
Grading assessments ware taken by Chief Instructor Sensei David Washington 3rd Dan. Students will be required to demonstrate all aspects of their training and must show good understanding of techniques and display both technical ability and spirit to a high level. Grading costs £22 per student which includes the students new grade belt, grading certificate and grade registration. To find out more please click here.
UFMA Membership
UFMA memberships have no contract or tie in period, members pay a monthly fee which can be cancelled at anytime if a student needs to for whatever reason. To find out more about membership please click here.
